Opiate for the Masses Show Review
Written: Corey Evans December 20, 2005

Static-X, Ill Nino, Opiate For The Masses
Another night, another show. Once again Opiate For The Masses rolled through town to open up the show, and another fine job, nothing to add that already hasn't been said before about their ability to win over a different crowds every time they come through town. Once again an all to brief set list, the group rolled through choice cuts from their debut "The Spore". Even with guitarist Jim Kaufman battling sickness, the group were no less energetic and the crowd kept up with them. Rousing fist pumping danced with the beat of the music and kicked off what would turn out to be another good night.

Ill Nino, whew, thats a lot of guys to fit on one stage, especially with the amount of dreadlocks that were flying through the air as the strobe flight flashed on. A solid crowd reaction for them as well, its hard to tell if the audience was there for any one of the three acts on the bill more then the other. The group tour through all the hits that spawned off of "Confession", a few tracks from "Revolution... Revolucion", and of course their latest release, "One Nation Underground". To cap off the performance the group were joined on stage by the drummers for Static-X and Opiate For The Masses in a drum off of sorts with the drummer and percussionist for Ill Nino.

Up next, drum roll please.... Static-X! What an interesting year these guys have had. Without bringing up the obvious troubles certain former members of the group faced, the group have dwindled in popularity since their height a few years back. Still drawing in several hundred people, the group played as seasoned musicians, not missing a bit and one of the tightest sounding bands I've seen in quite awhile, they were in true form. Even Wayne Static's signature hair style was in fine form tonight, as new/old guitarist Koichi Fukuda rejoined the fold, and semi-new guy Nick Oshiro took over drums, the group flawlessly played for just over an hour touching on a good cross section of material including "Love Dump", "I'm With Stupid", "Dirthouse", "Get To The Gone", Cold", "Destroy All" and others.
