Congress Of Corruption Tour Review
Okay, so maybe this should really only be the half of “Congress Of Corruption” tour review since I got there after the Dreaming were done and left before Ill Nino came on. So, this is pretty much me talking about Ra and Godhead for awhile. Alright?
Godhead and Ra are bands that may be past their major label hey-day’s of the early 2000’s, but that doesn’t mean they’ve slowed down any even as lady luck has been pooping on them.
They are both out supporting new albums, with Godhead just releasing The Shadow Line and Ra coming up with their upcoming live album Raw, feauturing the single “Don’t Turn Away”.
The tour spared no expense, packing in it’s own lights, sound and more not usually seen in clubs. The owner of their record label wasn’t kidding when he said it was going to be a big production show, including five buses and a tractor trailer worth of gear.
Being their ‘old’ home town, many of the old school Godhead fans were out in force, with a crowd double or triple the size that was there when they last played here a few years ago. With a set that focused on a mix of the new album and sparadic insertion of cuts from “Evolver” and “2000 Years Of Human Error”, Jason Miller, Ulrich, Mikey, and whomever was drumming for them now was spot on. While the music may have shifted directions over the years, the boys are still all on point and deliver a good show.
Now Ra, the same kudos can be bestowed upon them as well. I’m not sure what went wrong with these guys at Universal, but these guys can write some good rock songs and were entirely underrated by just about every one… a trend that continues to this day. This was my first time seeing them live and also complimented the solid strength of their albums just as well.
Seems to be anyones guess as to who will be featured on the next installment of this tour, but this year’s version (at least in this market) seemed to be a success. With $10 ticket prices, it is a hard deal for most to pass up, even those that would even be mediocre fans of any of the bands.
