TV On The Radio On Stage
TV On The Radio are all the buzz right now. Previous case studies (all conducted by my mind) indicate that in terms of long term career longevity this can’t always been good for a band, but if these guys continue the direction they are going, I think elevating past blog hype into career artists will be a non-issue.
The group have been riding high on buzz in recent months following the release of their first major label release, “Return To Cookie Mountain” (Interscope, out now). This album, at least in my case, was a slow grower. Call me late to the scene but it was my first introduction to the group, and I didn’t give it adequate enough listens until being thoroughly impressed with their live show at Sonar a few weeks back.
Of course, this could of all easily happened sooner had I not been stuck in rush hour traffic in Northern Virginia when they were opening for Nine Inch Nails during the summer, but, whatever. The group energetically ripped through tracks from their latest album with a compliment of tracks from their first CD, “Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes”, before closing with “Staring At The Sun”.
It was a very solid experience enjoyed by a packed house.
