KMFDM Sucks, 40x Over
One of the god fathers of industrial, the often over looked but still truckin’ KMFDM rolled into town in support of their newest EP. Over twenty years, they’ve had their high lights and low lights, but have still always waved the banner that they suck proudly.
The show lived up to their reputation of being a high energy, in your face performance that included a lengthy set that delivered the goods to long time fans slapping down twenty-five big ones for the show. Opening with one of my favorites, the heavy hitting “D.I.Y.” and raging on for two hours or so (I lost track).
One of the problems that have plagued me from getting intensely into KMFDM is the lack of dynamic found from album to album. While I own most of the albums, and “Hau Rock” contained some of the bands better cuts in quite some time, the band’s sound is very defined and doesn’t stray to far from the formula put out over twenty years ago. While it’s a bit tiring and they work their name into their music a few too many times, the group still has what it takes to keep their long time fans coming back for another go around.
