New Music: A Fine Frenzy
A Fine Frenzy recently released her sophomore effort Bomb In A Birdcage, the anticipated follow-up to 2007’s One Cell In The Sea and a fertile proving ground for a blossoming career.
Two years on, the latest release finds her shedding some of the more simple folksy sensibilities found on her debut while still maintaining the same charm and endearing, lush atmosphere. A more pop-oriented stance is maintained through-out, adding a bubbly flair to the singer-songwriter’s repertoire. Bomb In A Birdcage’s first half finds her exploring new territory, with tracks like “Electric Twist” making first (and fine) use of the electric guitar, as second half-stand outs like “World” Without” and “Bird Of Summer” are sure to satisfy fans of her debut.
The end result is a satisfying listening experience that at once pays homage to her more alt-folk beginnings accompanied with a more electrifying 21st century twist.
