New Music: Wale [Attention Deficit]

The freshest out of the newly formed Roc Nation staple comes DC born, raised and proud-of-it hip-hop recording artist Wale. With hip-hop heavy weights in his corner, and the songs to back it up, one will be left assuming this is a name that isn’t going to go away any time soon.

Featuring an all-star production line-up with the likes of Mark Ronson, TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, The Neptunes, and more.. Wale’s debut is full of the braggadocio one is accustomed to in hip-hop one is accustomed to and expecting. Often fusing elements of his native D.C’s native sound in go-go, the album comes riding a wave of hype that no album can ever actually live up to. Tracks like “Chillin” featuring Lada Gaga and “Contemplate” stand out as worthy of attention on the album, while the rest as a hold come together to form a solid offering.

Bun B, Guggi Mane, K’Naan, Chrisette Michele, Marsha Ambrosius, and Jazmine Sullivan round out the cast that make appearances on this album that has a lot to offer. If one comes in buying into the hype they probably one won’t walk away completely satisfied. It will however be a satisfying listening experience for those looking for a solid ‘debut’ hip-hop album that will probably grow into the solid career worthy of the swagger it contains within.
